New network marketer asked me recently how long it would talk them to learn all there is to know about network marketing. He suggested that it make take 20 or 40 or maybe 60 hours. For those that have been doing this for a while you will probably be taken back like I was when I first heard this question. The answer is you never learn all the techniques. First, the number of ways to market is countless. Just coming up with a list would take a while. Second and more important is however you do it today most likely is not the same way you will do it six months from now.
That is why I chose to write this article. There are so many ways to market I will start by listing the most popular was that are used today and then pick one to focus on details. Some of the most popular ways to market online is to use the social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, BetterNetworker, Myspace or Youtube. Other ways to market are Pay Per Click (PPC), writing articles, Banner Ads, solo ads, email marketing and many many more. Each one of these has very specific techniques that you should follow in order to market that are unique to the web site or applications being used.
As a example and to demonstrate how much there is to learn I will pick just one method and drill down to more detail.. Facebook is the 2nd most visited website in the world right after Google. There are hundreds of millions of people on Facebook and it is growing every day. Once you have created your account on Facebook and got your profile all setup, you will want to start adding friends. This can be done several ways but a good place to start is to look in groups that have a common interest. Join those groups and start to invite friends. You have to be careful to not invite too many friends to quickly or Facebook may flag you. If you stay under 50 invites per day you should not have any problems with Facebook.. Be consistent in do this and your list will grow.. In a few weeks you can have almost 1000 friends as long as you are consistent and do it every day.
Once you have grown a list of this size you will want to get as many as you can to optin to your web site. To do this you need to give your friend or prospect some value so that they want to do this. A very easy way to start when you are new is to invite your friends to free training webinars. Just this last week there were several but one that I used that got a lot of attention was learning how to get on the first page of Google for free. This kind of invitation will get lots of interest and you will begin to grow your list.
You next task is to contact the prospect and discuss what they saw. by doing this you are beginning to build a relationship with them and building trust. This is not something that will happen over night but certainly you can see how this technique will lead to sales over time. This can be enhanced by you making comments on their status updates or on their pictures over a period of time. People like to do business with people that they like and this is when you build that relationship. In time some will attend your webinars and in time some will purchase your products or join your business. The speed varies a lot with each prospect but keep at it and you will indeed see a change in time.
I realize that this is a high level look at this technique but I have given enough details that you can see how this can work for you. It will take some time and eventually you will see results as you get to know the people better. You also should realize that I have only gone over one way to use Facebook where there are over twenty different ways to market on Facebook.
I am confident that you can fathom the complexity of this industry. It is clear to me that the marketer that asked me the question had no idea what he was saying but when I had some time to think about his question, I realized that I have learned so much I take a lot of what I know for granted. Some questions such as this one make you look back and realize how much there is to know about this field of online network marketing.
